Hey cacharifas,
Just go to a nice hometown jewelry store (not a kay’s or zale’s), and tell them you would like a single black diamond stud earrings. You can then pick the metal-white gold, yellow gold, platinum, the shape of the diamond, and the size. They will probably have to order a black diamond in, as it is a special request, but they can show you sizes in white diamonds to help you pick the right size. Good luck!

What would you do if you dropped your diamond earring between the seat and console in your car?

So I got this pair of diamond studs as a gift a few years ago, but until today I really did not take them out of my ears at all. I had to remove them because I went to a new dentist and they wanted me to take them out so they could take x-rays.
Well I didn’t have a chance to put them in so they gave me a small envelope to put all my earrings in. After I left the dentist I went through the drive-thru to get some lunch and while I was waiting in line I was going to try to put my earrings back in.
The studs have this screw-on back, though. So I was fooling with it and I dropped the earring down between the seat and the console in my car. At least I’m pretty sure that’s where it fell. It might have fallen in that little enclosed part where the seatbelt is. I can’t see it and I can’t reach my hand down to get it. I’ve tried to move the seat to see if I can get to it and I can’t.
I want my earring back!! What should I do?

Should a jewelry take responsibility if a screw back diamond earring falls out of my ear?

A couple of days ago I purchased a pair of earrings from a jewelry store that has terrible reviews and very unsatisfied customers. I payed $ 1200 for these earrings, and one of them fell out of my ear. When I purchased them, I payed $ 60 to have them fixed so that the diamond part of the earring would not go through my ear since my ear holes are large. When I went to pick them up all they did was make the earring longer and replace the backing. I tried talking to the manager and he did not want to fix the problem, and he was giving me attitude and told me I did not even try them on. I just left, and when I tried them on, the right one came out from the back only if I pulled them very hard, but the left one would not come out at all, and that’s the one it fell out of. I’m thinking the screw came loose, and even if it didn’t, I payed to have them fixed so this shouldn’t of happened. I had problems with this store before. These earrings were actually an exchange from ones I payed $ 1000 for but appraised for $ 300. I tried calling and even talking to the new manager (the last one got fired yesterday), and he said the warranty does not cover that. Is there anything I can do, and is this fair?

Hey natashaiera,
You probably shouldn’t have purchased them if you weren’t satisfied with the earrings, or the store’s policy. Maybe you can take them to another jeweler to have them adjusted so they fit properly. It’s too bad you paid so much for them, but it’s probably too late to do much except to not patronize that store again. It doesn’t sound as though they are interested in pleasing their customers. It seems to me that a larger backing would keep the earrings from going through your earlobe, or you might also consider getting your ears re-pierced in a slightly higher or lower part of your earlobe. Check with another jeweler, and see if you can get more courteous and effective service. In the future I would suggest buying earrings with stones large enough to stay in your ears.
