how to know the carat of a diamond ring?
I recently got engaged and got a diamond ring, there’s no paperwork so I don’t know where he got it but on the inside in very small letters it says 14k 1/3 tw. What does the 1/3 tw mean?

normally, u should receive a certificate issued by IGI, GIA, HRD or whatever if the center stone bigger than 0.30ct. if there is none of them bigger than 0.30cts. then u do not have certificate, but it will be stamped inside of the shank. the one u have is: 14Karat gold, the diamonds is around 0.33carats, that is what 1/3tw mean!

Would it be risky to leave my diamond ring with a jeweler who noticed the setting/prongs are weak?
The ring is 20 years old so I am assuming he could be correct. He noticed it when I brought some watches in to be fixed. I just have this fear of some dishonest person putting a cubic zerconia in its place or something like that. Silly thought?
