What is the best digital camera for traveling?

I will be studying abroad in London next semester and I’m planning on backpacking for a few weeks around Europe for a few weeks after my program has ended. I currently have an Olympus Stylus that I bought 4 years ago and I love it, BUT it takes horrible pictures at night! I’m looking for a small camera that takes both good pictures in the day and night (since I do plan on taking some pictures at night!)…any suggestions?!!

Also take a few art classes. learn about composition, lighting, textures, focal point. 2-d perspective.
