I have a Canon SD1100 IS and I love it! It’s an easy point-and-shoot camera with a sleek design and tons of features. Only cons I can think of right now is the lack of zoom (3x, but what can you expect from a compact?) and the lack of aperture control. You should check that one out.
For making it waterproof, Canon sells the waterproof case for the camera. The camera is fairly new and still sells for $ 250, and the waterproof case is $ 240. Total is $ 490. It’s $ 90 over your budget, but if you look at the camera and think it is good for you, go for it!

How do i fix my digital camera (drop method didnt work)?
I have a sony cyber shot dsc w 70 and every time i turn it on it tells me to turn it off and on again. The Lens goes out and back in before that message appears. I have read multiple times that you should drop it 2-3 feet from a carpeted floor and i tried this but it didn’t work. I have also tried to clean out the dust from the Lens but it did not work.
