What is a good digital camera for using at concerts?

I have the Canon Powershot SD750 and I recently went to a concert, and it was terrible for zooming in and taking photos. I was sitting really close too. Are there any cameras out there with a good zoom for taking photos at events like concerts, that aren’t priced too highly?

Hey Anthony T,
To me Canon still remains adequate for such zoom…Maybe you should study more about the zoom enablements…or allow a professional to assist you with the settings!

What is a good digital camera with a manual aperture?

Hey maria,
I get the feeling you mean you want a digital SLR camera.

This means that it is a digital camera (no film) but you have manual control over settings and interchangeable lenses. Expect to spend $ 600 or more.

You can also get high-end cameras that do not have interchangeable lenses, such as the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ28, or the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS. These can be found for $ 300-$ 500.

If you decide you want to get a dSLR, have a look at:
Nikon D40 + 18-55 lens + 55-200 VR lens
Canon 400D/XTi or 450D/Xi + 18-55 IS lens + 55-300 lens
Nikon D90 + 18-200 VR lens

With any of these cameras, you will also need a memory card and probably want a pouch/carrying bag for it.

Linked are some detailed info pages on photography terms (aperture, shutter, focal length, etc)

What is the best digital camera for nature (beach and redwood) photography?

The primary use would be for nature photographs (beach and redwoods) and the occasional pictures of friends (red eye bad). I want a point-and-shoot for portability and because of money restrictions. I have about $ 250, but could stretch it too 400 if the camera is significantly worth it. The size/shape of the camera isn’t as important as the quality of the pictures, but I do like the square no bulges of some of these point-and-clicks. I had a canon S500 which I was happy with, but it was stolen. Any suggestions or tips? Should I get a used S500 again from Ebay? Or is there something way better out there for me? I was also looking at new Kodaks? Help?

Hey johnsullivan0928,
I’m no expert but I do love photographing nature as well. My little Fuji Finepix F700 has been doing a great job for me. I also tried the HP (M417?) and got great results but still prefer the user-friendlyness of Fuji. I think the main thing to consider is the number of megapixals. This plays a big role in the quality of your pics, ultimately.^^
