Adjusting your aperture allows you to obtain the depth of field that you want. What difference does it make if you just use the focus ring on your lens to get the same result?

Okay, so basically, you can control your depth of field through using aperture priority AND within whatever aperture you choose you can control what is in focus or out of focus?
I don’t know, but I’m sure it’s possible to get a similar depth of field through using your focusing as it is for using your aperture.
I’m going to use a typical photography shot as an example, and say hypothetically, if I wanted to take a close-up and detailed photograph of a flower, how would I go about using both functions?
Through aperture priority I would set the f-stop to the smallest number possible so I get the detail I want, and then how would I go about applying the focus ring to this?
Hopefully I’m making some sense haha

Anyway, the focus ring adjusts the depth of field, say, it will make the object look sharper or blurred when the ring is twisted in either direction.
