Diamond Stud Earrings or Sterling Silver Tiffany Necklaces?
What would you rather have, a sterling silver necklace that says Tiffany on it from Tiffany’s or diamond stud earrings? This is a gift for my best friends birthday. She just got her ears pierced and wears dangling earrings, but I thought studs would be sort of neutral, and she hasn’t had a chance to build a stock of earrings so I can’t say she wouldn’t like studs. Or would a sterling silver necklace from Tiffany’s be better? She’s a girl that has a lot of rich friends while she isn’t and complains that she wishes she could get something nice like her friends for once. I want to get her something from Tiffany’s so she would have something to be a little proud of. Here is what I was considering.

Help buying Diamond stud earrings?
I’m a male in my early 20′s and I don’t really wear jewelry (not even a watch). I’ve always liked how earring looked so I had both ears pierced when I was 18 (I went through phases sometimes wearing one little stud in my left ear and sometimes small hoops or studs in both ears). I haven’t worn earring(s) in a year or two and I kind of miss it.
I have an office type job where it wouldn’t be against dress code. I’m thinking of treating myself to a nice pair of diamond earrings and either wearing one or the pair. I have shaggy brown hair, green eyes, wear small oval framed silver glasses. I don’t really know too much about shopping for “real” jewelry. What should I look for? I’m thinking fairly small and in white gold, Any suggestions or advice? I’m not sure I trust the opinions of the commissioned salespeople at the jewelry stores I’ve been to.
Singlegal raises a good point, I don’t think I’d wear them to work all the time (maybe rarely if I thought they looked really great with whatever I was wearing). I’d love to treat myself to this just cause I really like it. I’ve gone to the local jewelry stores to check things out, but they seem interested in steering me into bigger stones than what I was looking at. The biggest I was thinking of going was a pair of 1/4 carat total weight in 18k white gold. I’ve also thought for the future if I ever don’t have a use for them I’d pass them on to someone else (mom, sister, future girlfriend, who knows).

It may not be “against” office policy to wear 1 or 2 earrings but if I were a male and in your position in the office I would not do so. I assume you want to “advance” in your career and whether or not you like it earrings ….on a male… send a negative vibe.
