Kindda. Over time, the value of a diamond and the value of god can go up if the economy increases the value of diamonds and gold. The diamond may become more valuable, as may the gold.

However when you purchased the ring, you paid for more than just the diamond and the gold, You paid for the designing of the ring, the manufacturing of it, the shipping to the jewelry store, the salesperson who sold you the ring, etc. 2/3′s of the cost of the ring probably have nothing to do with the value of the gold or the diamond. It is overhead and profit to make and sell the ring.

Unless you can find someone who wants the exact ring you have, when the jewelry store pays it back, it will only be for the value of the gold and diamond, not the overhead. The ring will be melted and the diamond reused in a new ring for which they will want overhead again.

The gold and diamond may appreciate in value. The ring as a finished product most likely will not unless the god and diamond increase a whole lot to where they cover the cost of all that overhead.
