How do I remove a dvd player I have in an old tower and install in a new one?
My husband and I bought a new compaq presario(tower only) with xp and already has only a cd-writer in it. It does have an Expansion Bay right below the Cd-Writer so that is why I assume that means we can take our old cd-dvd player out of our old tower and put it in this new one. Our old tower was a NEC but the cd-dvd player didn’t orginally come with it…the original Nec tower had a problem and and the new cd rom dvd player was installed by another computer company that we hired to try to fix the tower at that time. We still kept the old tower to see if another family member wanted it for their system but they didn’t so does anyone know how I can remove it from the old tower and install it in this new tower?

This might sound a little crazy.. Undo the screws.. Remove the DVD drive and install it in the new tower. It should be a simple process.

Where can I get a dvd player for my Computer ?
I don’t know if I have the right Encoders or Decoders or even what they are. Is there one I can download for free or buy cheaply at the store the will let me be able to edit saved (pictures,songs and videos)files on dvd? And will it have all the encoders and decoders I need?

Buy a retail (not OEM) dvd burner and pay close attention to the bundled software. For DVD playback you’ll need something like Cyberlink PowerDVD. For basic video stuff I think some come bundled with Muvee AutoProducer. Most come with Nero Essentials which should cover many different bases but doesn’t come with a DVD decoder.

How do I burn avi videos to DVD so I can watch them on a DVD player?
I have some cool movies that are in avi, but the drag is that I can only watch them through my computer. Id like to watch them on the TV or something. Ive googled, but the laundry list is so long and it always ends up with me having to buy something.
