Going for a college scholarship interview: I don’t know how formal to dress? Please help?

I’m 18, a senior in high school. I’m going for an interview for a local college scholarship, and I don’t know how to dress! A full suit with a red tie, or slacks and a nice button down shirt. Which is most appropriate? On one token, I want to look like a) I care and b) acceptable, of course. But at the same time, I don’t want to over-dress!

Is a sparkly, gold dress too formal for a daytime wedding?

I have a golden dress with sparkles on it, that reaches about to my knees, that I was thinking of wearing to a wedding in November. If the sparkles are all over (It looks like pixie dust from close up…), is this dress too formal, or too seasonal to wear to the wedding?
