Are there times in college where you can dress formal?

I’m about two months away from leaving high school and I’m gonna miss being able to dress up for formal things like prom and winter formal. I’m going to a four year univerisity and I’m wondering if there are going to be events, not necessarily dances, but just fomal times when you can have that oppurtunity to dress up and stuff.

I think most colleges do have semi-formals and formals….we always had school-wide events as well as class-specific. There are other events where you would dress nicely (speakers, meetings/conferences, etc) but not necessarily formal wear.

Perhaps do a quick search of your future school’s website/school newspaper to get an idea of what happens at that school specifically.

Can I wear a regular suit to my wedding if the bride is wearing a formal wedding dress?

I have this grey/lavender suit with a regular tie (not bow tie) and I’m having the groomsmen wear the same thing. The bridesmaids are wearing purple dresses. My wife’s dress is super nice; will this look awkward?
