Is it possible to find earrings that have screw backs that are for pierced ears?
I used to have a pair like that. I have a problem w/ the other kinds falling out. And I don’t really like the kind that are for those who don’t have pierced ears.
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey Michelle G,
Most likely, try Ebay. Under jewelry, type in screw back…You should get some results. They are usually antique style ear rings. You might also find them at an antique shop. Good luck!

What do you do for earrings that smell?
I wear my earrings all the time and I have noticed that sometimes the smell. I take them out and clean them with rubbing alcohol but they still sometimes smell. Any ideas on what to do or why it is happening?
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey Lyndi H,
You can wash them. Depends what they are made of. At least, put them in a closed container with dish detergent and water, shake well, and leave them overnight. Then replace the water with alcohol, shake them up, and decant onto a paper towel to let them dry.
The only thing that can smell is stuff from your body.

How do you make wooden earrings?
I seen pictures of them and some look really cool. Is there how-to’s on how to make them?
Plus, I seen some of them with what look like wooden pins to put them on with. What do you do to keep from getting splinters in your ears?
Strange extra question. Could you make a wooden earring from a toothpick(s)? Or use it for the pin part?
Thank you for your help.
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey artistguy,
Wooden jewelry is made from hardwoods which are smooth and do not shed splinters, especially when finished and waxed. Normally, they are made from nicely grained or colorful wood – tiger or fruit wood like cherry and may have a small hole to hang on a pierced ear loop. Wood has to be selected with some care because some woods produce allergic reactions.
If you check out wood working sites www.woodworker.com or hardwood stores in your area for bags of small hardwood pieces or cut off pieces.
