The right color may make you look gorgeous, but the wrong color can make you look pale, washed out, or even worse it can make you look a bit slutty. Here is how to pick the right color for you.

First look at lipsticks that are one or two shades darker than your natural lip color. These tend to look the best. Once you have a few your think will work test them (put them on one lip). If it truly is a shade or two deeper than your bare lip you have found your tone. If you are buying somewhere that you can not test, simply hold the color printed on the box up to you lips and check.

If you want to wow them with red try a variation of red that matches your skin tone. If you are pink skinned try a cherry red. If you have olive skin try a fire engine red. If you have darker skin try a deep red. If you want a lighter color try a red stain by putting a bit on your finger and rub it over your lips.

If you do accidentally get the wrong shade do not throw it away. Save money by blending ones that you don’t like to form one that you like.
