If the remote from Time Warner is a Universal remote as my Comcast one is, then yes it can be done, You need to obtain the instructions and the correct code for your DVD player from the cable company, not the DVD manufacturer. Cheaper DVD players may not work however as they are often made by 3rd party manufacturers and therefore its impossible to know whichg code will work.
