I have pale skin and blue eyes. I’ve tried purple and grey eye shadow and neither of them worked. I don’t want anything too dark, so what other colors might look good? Would gold work?

Making your own shadow “home-made” isn’t something I’d recommend but you could mix mica powders with water & oils.
You can also mix pigments/shadow color, with pigments from MAC, L’Oreal’s HIP line, and MicaBella, which most of those products have multiple uses other than eyeshadows.
