DVD Player User Questions
How do I hook up a dvd player and rf modulator to an older NTSC TV with a dtv converter box?
I have a relatively old TV without A/V inputs–just coaxial cable input–and a low-end DVD player with both coaxial and red/yellow/white inputs. I also have an RF modulator and a DTV converter box. Thank you.
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey duckwing,
you will need to insert the antenna cable to the dtv box input, run the coaxial out from the dtv box to the antenna input on the RF Modulator, run the RCA (red/white/yellow) wires into the RF Modulator and then run the coaxial out from the RF modulator to the TV

How to properly hook up my dvd player to my new Samsung pdp 42 series tv?
I have a dvd player that has the red white and yellow cord to hook to the tv. But on this tv there is only slots for the red white and then a red blue and green cable. I bought a cable that had those colors but when I hooked them all up into the tv it makes the tv all a blue color not regular coloring. Can someone help me please!
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey Jordan E,
Red and white alone are for audio only
Red, white and yellow (also known as RCA or composite) are for audio and video.
Red, Green and blue also known as component are for video only.
If you DVD player has only red, white and yellow outputs you will need to find a way to connect it to your TV via converter of sorts to the port you have available on your TV.
There is no real practice way of converting composite video (yellow) to component video (RGB). Audio is easy as it is still red and white in both cases, just connect them properly based on color.
Look at this guide to see if there is another way you can hook up your hardware together:

Also, some (if not all) DVD players have coaxial input and output. Can you hook up you stuff that way? Coaxial cable going from wall to DVD (or receiver box and then DVD) and from DVD to TV? That will carry audio and video all together?

Can I hook up a different DVD player to my surround sound speakers?
My dvd player has broken, repair man says picture comes in but is doesn’t keep up with the sound. I have the 5 speakers I would love to use. Is it possible for me to use a different DVD player and just hook the speakers up to it? It is a Samsung, only about 4 years old.
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey looking for my rainbow,
Don’t know your exact setup but generally the DVD sound out goes to a seperate amplifier which drives the speakers. So the answer is yes a DVD player connected to an amp which is connected to the speakers should be just fine. Some speaker systems have the amp builtinto them, if that is the case then any DVD should work just fine.

How do you hook up a gameing system to a tv through a dvd player?
I saw my friend do it with an xbox so I know its possible. If you could can you tell me specifics, like what channel I have to be on and how exactly to do it? Just pretend I’m a caveman. Thanks for your help.
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey xbox freakin 360,
I would first use the red, white, and yellow cables (sorry I forget what they’re called) into the input on the DVD player. Then probably just put it on the channel that you use the DVD on. That’s about as in-depth as I can go.

How do I hook up a DVD Player to my new tv?
My dad just bought a new vizio tv. My mom and I are trying to hook up a DVD player to it and we can’t figure it out. Can anyone help me?
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey ,
if it’s the model without the scart socket you might not be able to connect it to the TV.
if there is a component connection (the 3 plugs red white black (colors might be diffrent) you will need to get a scart to component adapter and connect it like that.
