can I plug in a portable dvd player into my 2004 prius?
I would like to take a long road trip with my toddler, and my portable DVD player’s battery only lasts about 2 hours. I would like to buy a car-plug-in to use in the Prius, but will it drain the auxillary battery too quickly? I’ve had trouble in the past with draining the battery, and don’t want to be stuck somewhere with my toddler.

As long as the Prius is in READY mode, the 12V battery will not be drained. I’ve gone on many long trips in my 2004 with things plugged into the power ports and no problems.
The only time you can have a problem is if the “READY” light does not appear on the dash–then the 12V battery has to supply all the power required.

How can I setup up a dvd player to a tv that doesnt have audio in and video in (Its an older tv)?
The cable box does have it but i dont know what channel to put the tv on for it to work.

usually, especially if you have a cable box, you’ll have a coaxial connection, the little screw on connection on the back.
you can purchase an RF modulator that will attach to that same connection and give you rca connection (audio and video, colored red yellow and white) and additional coaxial connections

How can i easily put a downloaded torrent onto a dvd that my dvd player can play?
i downloaded some movies for my son. when i burn them onto a disc, it will play in the ps3 but not his dvd player. i imagine i have to convert the files, but how? i tried downloading “mediacoder” online but it came with a bunch of spam and no intructions on how to use it.

It depends on the type of file (the part of the name to the right of the dot). Try DVDFlick – it’s clean and the “instructions” are pretty evident (although it comes with a pretty extensive set of instructions) and it will convert most of the common types to vob (which is what a DVD player needs, and PCs and PS3s can also play). It will make an image for you, which you can burn to a DVD with AShampoo (burn an image, don’t burn a file). They’re both free.

How can I use my laptop dvd player with the top down?
I use my laptop as my entertainment center brain.I want to use itwith the top down after I start the movie or with my wireless desk top. How please? I’m using Win 7 on a Toshiba Satelite. The computer cuts off when the top is put down.
