What is a creative way to give my boyfriend his promise ring?

Me and my boyfriend have been dating for 2 years now. We are both in college and don’t have a lot of money. Our reasons for getting the promise rings is to devote our love to each other and to promise that we will get married once we have completed college and have more money but I don’t want to just hand him his ring. I don’t want to make him go through a scavenger hunt to find the ring but i want to give it to him in a creative way. Any suggestions???

How much would it cost to transfer a 1.5 carat diamond from a yellow gold ring to a white gold ring?

Hello – I have yet to get this ring appraised but I want to transfer the diamond (if possible) from the yellow gold ring to a white gold ring. Would the yellow gold have any trade-in value to the white gold ring? Can they even transfer the diamond? I’m obviously clueless when it comes to jewelry. This is for an engagement ring.

The jeweler will transfer it for free, if you buy the new ring from them. But the rings themselves (without the diamond) are very inexpensive; a typical gold ring (white or yellow) would cost less than $ 100. Most better jewlers don’t get involved in “trade in,” but you can always sell the old ring seperately, on ebay or at any of the 1,000 places that buy gold. It’ll be worth less than half the jewlery store price.
