Would it be difficult to remove a diamond ring by cutting it?

Say your finger got injured and the diamond ring cannot be taken off, so it needs to be removed. Would it be easy to remove?

I ask this because a tungsten carbide ring is supposedly impossible to remove by doctors, but isn’t a diamond ring just as hard to remove? So then what makes diamond rings more expensive than tungsten carbide rings?

Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:

Hey calzrhe,
Diamond rings are very easy to remove by people with the right equipment, and paramedics carry cutters with them everywhere. They are also present in any emergency room. A diamond ring is not a ring made of solid diamond, it’s usually one or a few diamonds in a gold or platinum setting mounted on a gold or platinum ring. The cut is made through the body of the gold ring, not the diamond. There are some rings with multiple diamonds set all around the ring, but the powerful blades would be set between two diamonds and snipped off.

Tungsten carbide is metal, not a jewel. A diamond would not generally be set into a tungsten carbide ring, as the metal doesn’t polish as well. What makes diamond rings more expensive than tungsten carbide rings is the value of the diamond, not the type of metal in the ring.

If I buy a diamond ring In Costco, am I getting a better deal than local store?

I do not know anything about diamonds. I am a Costco shopper on almost anything, because I know it is all priced right. But diamonds and jewelry, I am not too sure.

Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:

Hey nalof,
No, you should buy a particular thing from particular shop only. for example, a diamond ring should be purchased from jewelry shops only as they offered many discounts on it. The general stores has only limited model and brands. So you are missing many things here.
