I am not that computer saavy, but do have a little bit of knowledge. I downloaded some old tv shows in .WMV format and want to put them on DVD to give as a gift to my mom for the holidays.

No, a normal DVD player would not have the capability of burning to a disc. It’s also not possible to display the image in 1080i if the source is a standard DVD player, so the file would need to be converted down to 480. If the source can be transferred to PC, there are many programs such as “WinAVI Video Converter” that easily convert an avi file (even from an HD source) to a standard DVD format. These can in turn be burned to disc with a DVD burner.

It is not a good idea to integrate a DVD player with an LCD projector . A projector generates way too much heat, which is not good for electronics. Then you need fans, etc.
