DVD Player User Questions
Is it worth getting an upconverting DVD player to go with my HDTV?
The player itself is not that much but again does it make enough difference in picture quality? Also purchasing a good HDMI cable, like Monster, is almost as much as the player.
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey Thump,
Monster Cables are over-rated. Just because you spend more money doesnt ALWAYS mean you get better quality. You can get a good HDMI cable off the internet for a better price, but so many people are willing to pay more because theyre impatient. I have friends get mad when they over pay for everything and theyve realized how much more theyve spent than me for the exact same thing because they wouldnt wait 3 days for shipping. Convenience comes at a price, its always time or money.

How do I hook up a dvd player and a vcr through my cable box?
I have a Sylvania TV which is currently hooked up directly to my Comcast cable/DVR box. I also have a vcr and a separate dvd player I’d like to connect so I can watch cable or DVDs or VHS tapes through the one TV. I’m having difficulty figuring out the order of the connections – i.e., the antenna goes first to…..the TV or cable box? Then how do I connect the other two auxiliary machines so they all work together? Thanks for the help.

How can I hook up a dvd player to an old tv?
I have a really old TV without the right hookups to a DVD player. My boyfriend thinks there is possibly an adapter that could hook up the right cables. Does anyone know what it could be?
Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:
Hey krh71585,
Oh, I had this same problem. I had a TV that was from the seventies, it was so old it only had the lead for the cable to go in, nothing else on back.
When I got a VCR, I had to run the cable to the VCR first, then the lead off the VCR into the TV cable input. Then when I got a DVD player, I had to run the DVD player into the front of hte VCR, the VCR then connected still tot he cable input on the back of the TV. So if you already have a VCR hooke dinto your TV, just run the DVD through the imputs on the VCR. If you don’t have a VCR connected to your TV, you should still be able to run the cable lead into the DVD, and then the DVD lead into the cable connect on the back of the TV.
Try on of those two things first, before you buy anything.
