What computer program can I use to make a slide show to use on a dvd player?

My Church is holding VBS this week and I want to make a slide show of all the pictures we all took over the week to show on family night. Please help i am running out of time.

Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:

Hey Kim,
Microsoft WIndows Movie Maker… you can put together a “movie” of just slide show pictures, you can pick your transitions, and even put music in the background if you want. It’s very simple to use, and it’s usually free software on recent PCs… good luck!

can i connect panasonic speakers to sony dvd player?

the speakers are from a Surround System
the dvd(sony) is just a player.Where can i buy an amplifier?

Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:

Hey jasminenitu,
You can, but only if you have an amplifier or receiver between them. DVD players don’t output a signal capable of driving speakers. They are intended to be plugged into an amplifier/receiver and speakers connect to the output of the receiver/amp.

Edit: Note that brand of audio/video components do NOT have to be the same. With a few exceptions inputs and outputs are standardized, so any manufacturer’s source component can be connected to any manufacturer’s receiver or speakers.

Also note the difference between an amp and receiver is the latter has a tuner section built in (usually both AM and FM).

As to what to buy you need a model that has the capacity to drive the number and type of speakers you want to listen to. This can vary from one to 8 or more. If you have 2 speakers you want a stereo amp/receiver, but if more than 2 you want a surround or home theater receiver (usually these have 5-7 amp channels … one for each speaker).

You can buy receivers almost anywhere (starting at about $ 150) at electronics stores like Best Buy or department stores like Sears, J.C Penny, Wal-Mart, etc. or you can buy used models and save a bundle … look at Craig’s list, Kijiji, e-Bay or maybe your town has stores that sell used hi-fi equipment. It’s preferable to buy a stand alone receiver rather than a “home theater in a box” combo unit since quality tends to be better. You don’t need a top of the line model, so I’d strongly encourage you to look for a 2-3 yr old used model.

How do I make my TV stop searching for channels So I can watch my DVD player?

My TV keeps searching for channels and telling me to check the antenna or cable box. It says to press the ‘channel up’ button. When it gets done looking for channels it will say ‘no signal found’ and then tell me to hook up the antenna or cable and look a second time. I want to plug in my DVD player and turn it to AUX, but I can’t do this for as long as it is doing this.

Based on emails, here’s our Top Ten Answers for you:

Hey ,
Connect the DVD player to the desired input on the back of the TV, i.e. AUX, AV1, ViD-1, HDMI-1, etc., whatever you’re using. Then use the TV’s remote to select that input. Check your user’s manual for the procedure for changing inputs if you’re not sure.
