Can you take diamonds from an earring and make it into a ring?

I have a set of diamond stud earrings I received a few years ago. I’ve never worn them, and they’re rather large. Is it possible to take the diamonds from the earrings and get it made into an engagement ring?

A good jeweller would do this for you. It would probably cost £80ish.

I would only recommend it though if you really wanted those particular diamonds in the ring, as it’s a lot of hastle really.

how do they set diamonds in a earring so they stay in place?

Just wondering cause I don’t get how the earrings I got how the diamonds stay in place, just so you know they are mens diamond kite earrings 13mm X 13mm, so how do they keep the diamonds so they stay in place on earrings with flat surfaces and not just a stud were the metals wrapped around it, like what do they use for a holding substance thing on flat surfaced earrings?

The diamond has an edge that fits in a groove inside the earring. Depending on the setting the jeweler sometimes cuts the groove with a small hand held drill. Once the diamond is in place the jeweler squeezes the metal to fit snugly to the diamond.
